Juniper (Juniperus communis) is under threat of extinction according to many conservationists. On the Lizard the debated subspecies hemisphaerica is found on the coastal cliff grasslands where there are probably fewer than 20 individuals. Fencing has been erected around this clump to protect it from grazing.
